HANOVER, MA…For a second consecutive year, Lapels Dry Cleaning, an innovative, environmentally friendly dry cleaning company headquartered in Hanover, Massachusetts, was named to Entrepreneur magazine’s list of vet-friendly franchises. For 2019, Lapels Dry Cleaning was ranked 78 out of 150 franchises listed.
“Being environmentally friendly has long been a calling card of Lapels Dry Cleaning. While that generally refers to the physical environment, we also consider being a veteran-friendly franchise that welcomes and incentivizes veteran ownership as part of that effort,” said Kevin Dubois, CEO of Lapels and co-author of Entrepreneurial Insanity in the Dry Cleaning Business. “In addition to having had a few veterans in our ranks of franchise owners, we have also sought to have special offerings for customers who are veterans.”
Lapels Dry Cleaning of Littleton, Colorado has a program where it will clean uniform hats for veterans. Most if not all Lapels Dry Cleaning locations offer discounted uniforms and flag cleaning services.
In terms of franchises, Lapels offers a 20 percent discount on initial franchise fees to veterans. Additionally, Lapels will also pay up to $6,000 in fees in assisting veteran franchise owners in finding the correct lending institution to open their franchise.
“People who have gone through military training typically have a great number of skills that translate very well to running a successful franchise—time management, technology and systems,” said Dubois. “We also encourage all of our franchise owners to get involved in the local community and some of our owners have taken that opportunity to help veterans.”
In the past, Lapels Dry Cleaning franchise owners have held suit donation drives to benefit local chapters of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
