The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC), in partnership with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, is announcing the 7th Annual POSITIVELY DIFFERENT Arts Foundation Scholarship Program. Each year, five $1,000 scholarships are awarded to local graduating high school seniors who are pursuing higher education in creative arts fields.
“Our long partnership with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod supports an important message to our local youth that arts truly matter,” said Julie Wake, Executive Director of the AFCC. “Our goal is to make sure that our local talent feels supported and encouraged to pursue their passion.  If they succeed, we all benefit.”
To be eligible, students must live on Cape Cod; be graduating from a public, private, tech, or home education school; and be accepted into a degree program in their field at an accredited college or university.  Selections will be made based on the quality of the submissions, the excellence of the work, and academic achievement.
“As a Patron Sponsor of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, we’re thrilled to be able to partner with them for the seventh consecutive year to offer this scholarship program,” said Lisa Oliver, President and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. “Cape Cod has long been recognized as a vibrant arts community, and we want to make sure our young people who have grown up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cape have the support they need to expand their art training and education.”
Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and require the submission of a portfolio and an essay. Categories include Visual Arts, Performance Arts, and Creative Writing. Within each category are the following concentrations: Architecture, graphic design, painting, sculpture, mixed media under Visual Arts; set/costume design, dance, vocal and instrumental music under Performance Arts; and poetry, short story and scriptwriting under Creative Writing.
Students can apply at artsfoundation.org/programs/scholarships throughout the spring semester. Application deadline is April 30, 2018 at midnight.  The scholarships will be awarded in May.
