Bakes For Breast Cancer Cape & Islands Takes Place Aug. 2– 8

Bakes for Breast Cancer Cape & Islands returns for its sixth year Aug. 2 through 8, raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research.

In this fundraiser, bakeries, cafés, pastry shops and restaurants throughout the Cape & Islands participate by designating 100 percent of the proceeds from one dessert item to the organization, or by offering the entire dessert menu, where 50 percent of the proceeds of all sales will go towards Bakes for Breast Cancer.

Interested venues can still sign up to register at bakesforbreastcancer.org/registration.

Since its inception in 1999, Bakes for Breast Cancer has raised more than $2 million for breast cancer research and awareness and hundreds of different bakeries, cafés, pastry shops and restaurants have participated.

“We are so appreciative of the number of places along the cape and islands that support Bakes for Breast Cancer year in and year out,” said Bakes for Breast Cancer founder and Cape Cod resident Carol Sneider. “We’re on a mission to end breast cancer for good, one sweet treat at a time, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge those that come on board during the height of the summer when they are the busiest, which makes us even more appreciative of their participation.”

Proceeds raised will directly benefit and support the research of Dr. Rachel Freedman at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  Freedman’s clinical trials will focus on treatment for older breast cancer patients, an area of research that has been vastly under subsidized.

Following Bakes for Breast Cancer Cape & Islands is the 22nd Annual Bakes for Breast Cancer Massachusetts and Bakes for Breast Cancer Rhode Island, which both occur from Oct. 1  through 7, 2021.
