Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in February 2020 was down 9.1 percent from February 2019 volume and the total value of sales was down 2.4 percent from the previous year. The median individual property sale value was up 6.2 percent from the previous year. There was a 45.8 percent increase in the volume of mortgage activity from February 2019 levels.
Year to date, the volume of sales is up 5.1 percent; total value of sales up 0.04 percent; individual sales value is up 6.5 percent; and mortgage volume is up 53 percent.
Meade reports that there were 361 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in February 2020 with stated sales values above $50,000, representing a stated value of $200,527,931 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in February 2020 was $375,000.
There were 1,022 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000 in February 2019 with a total value of $367,624,776. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $284,350.
By way of comparison, there were 397 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in February 2019 with stated sales values above $50,000, representing a stated value of $205,533,450 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in February 2019 was $353,000.
