BayCoast Bank Names Mack, Fortes To Board of Directors

Narragansett Financial Corp, the mutual holding company of BayCoast Bank, named Eric B. Mack and Gail M. Fortes to the BayCoast Bank Board of Directors.

Mack, an attorney and Shareholder with Littler Mendelson P.C. in Providence, R.I., defends private employers in a variety of employment disputes, including claims of discrimination, harassment, misappropriation of trade secrets, violations of non-compete agreements, tortious interference and wage and hour disputes. He holds bar admission in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Illinois.

Mack, who earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School, has been published in numerous publications and is a sought-after speaker. He is chair of the Local Rules Committee, Civil Rights Subcommittee of the U.S. District Court, District of Rhode Island, and a member of the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.  Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Trustees at both St. Andrews School and Highlander Charter School and a member of the Board of Directors with the Star Kids Scholarship Program.

BayCoast G. Fortes 2021Fortes, a New Bedford resident, has served as the Executive Director of the YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts since September of 2006 and in other capacities since 1994, exhibiting a true commitment to the YWCA mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

 She was named the 2015 Standard Times New Bedford Woman of the Year and a 2016 Unsung Heroine for the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women.

 Fortes is the Immediate Past President of the National Association of YWCA Executives; Board Chair of Youth Opportunities Unlimited; Board Vice Chair of the SouthCoast Community Foundation; Board member of One SouthCoast Chamber; Trustee for Alma del Mar Charter School; Trustee for Global Learning Charter Public School; Board member of the United Front Development Corp.; and serves as the Board Secretary of the Cape Verdean Association in New Bedford. In addition, she is the host of the Dartmouth cable television show “Voices of Women.”
