PLYMOUTH, MA – Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (BID-Plymouth) and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton) are pleased to announce that both hospitals have received their seventh consecutive A rating for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group–the nation’s leading nonprofit watchdog on hospital quality and safety. The A rating puts BID-Plymouth and BID-Milton in the top six percent of all hospitals that were awarded an A rating in the current Leapfrog Ratings.
“Our talented patient care team comprised of nurses, clinicians, physicians, and support staff are committed to providing our patients with an extraordinary patient experience,” says BID-Plymouth Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer Donna Doherty, RN. “The Leapfrog recognition highlights the exceptional work that our dedicated patient care team does every day to ensure great patient outcomes in a safe environment.”
“Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton is committed to excellence in quality of care, patient safety and experience,” adds Ashley Yeats, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of clinical integration and healthcare quality for BID-Milton. “Receiving seven consecutive “A” grades from Leapfrog, a nationally respected patient safety group, is the result of our robust, organization-wide patient safety program and our physicians’ and staff’s commitment to providing the best, safest care possible day in and day out.”
The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers, assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.
“BID-Plymouth strives to be a leader in providing compassionate, safely delivered care. We are delighted that The Leapfrog Group has reaffirmed our efforts with our seventh “A” grade in three years,” said Judy VanTilburg, RN, Senior Director, Quality and Patient Safety, BID-Plymouth.
Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It’s calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
