PLYMOUTH, MA — Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (BID-Plymouth) held its 33rd Annual Golf Classic last month at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth. The tournament was the Hospital’s largest, most successful ever, with over 180 golfers and more than $225,000 raised to support the non-profit hospital. The tournament was sponsored by more than 40 area businesses, including top tournament sponsor, Dellbrook | JKS.
A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Hospital’s work on the opioid crisis in Plymouth County. During the reception following the tournament, BID-Plymouth President Kevin Coughlin spoke of the importance of this work, saying, “We see the impact and the devastation of the opioid crisis every day at the Hospital. We see parents losing their children and families in crisis. Destigmatization and treating addiction is a top priority for the Hospital.”
One of the initiatives highlighted at the golf tournament, was the Plymouth County Outreach (PCO) program, a multi-faceted collaboration of the 27 municipal police departments in Plymouth County, as well as Bridgewater State University Police Department and Cohasset Police Department, working together to make treatment more accessible to those suffering from substance use disorder. This is accomplished in partnership with District Attorney Timothy Cruz, Sheriff Joseph McDonald and dozens of non-law enforcement partners in healthcare, treatment, recovery, local coalitions, faith-based community and all five county hospitals, including BID-Plymouth.
