Blue Rock Golf Course and ‘Create the Good’ Partner for Annual Turkey Shoot to Benefit Those in Need

(SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA) – As the holiday season approaches, Blue Rock Golf Course in South Yarmouth, MA and Create the Good will again partner for the 15th Annual Turkey Shoot-Out and Food Pantry Drive on November 23rd and 24th.
Golfers can take part on either day of the event. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser go to Create the Good’s ongoing efforts to provide food for students in the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District.
Create the Good was founded in 2010 by a group of Yarmouth parents who recognized a pressing need to help less fortunate families who were finding it difficult to keep food on the table and all their household bills paid.
In the Dennis-Yarmouth district, 56% of students in the system are receiving free or reduced lunch, amplifying the need for help.
During the two-day event, as many as 150 golfers will play the course, with a portion of their entry fees donated to Create the Good. And many of the golfers who play in the event will win turkeys through closest-to-the-pin contests. Several winners often donate their turkey back to the cause. Participants can choose which day they would like to play.
Non-golfers are also encouraged to take part in the fun. The public is invited to drop off canned goods, non-perishable food items and grocery store gift cards to the Pro Shop throughout the weekend. Volunteers will be on site creating Thanksgiving Dinner bags.
More than 125 local families benefited from the event last year and this year the goal is to reach at least 150 families in the Mid-Cape area.
The program recently expanded to also accept donations of coats, hats, mittens and gloves.
“We are so happy to again help Create the Good in providing critical food supplies for those in need. This annual event is a favorite among the team at Blue Rock and our many golfers who enjoy giving back to the community,” said PGA Head Professional Jim Campbell.
Registration is $40 per player ($20 for members). More information is available at Blue Rock Golf Course at 48 Todd Road in South Yarmouth or by calling 508-398-9295.
