Virginia and Chris Smith, Co-Owners of Cape Cod Tree and Landscape in Chatham, are pleased to announce that they were awarded the 5th Annual Norman Edinberg Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship by the Community Development Partnership at their Annual Meeting last week. CDP Board of Director and Cape Associates President and CEO, Matt Cole, presented Virginia and Chris with the prestigious honor.
“We are incredibly humbled and deeply honored to receive this award from such a wonderful organization as the CDP,” said Virginia. “Even though we have 14 employees, we strive to to provide professional services with the quality and feel of a small business. Our community is very important to us. We employ local people, we were raised here, we try to support and grow local businesses, and bring new and continued business to our Lower Cape towns.”
The Norm Edinberg Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship was created to honor former longtime CDP Board Member, Norm Edinberg for his years of service to the CDP and supporting small business development on the Lower Cape. The Award recognizes an established Lower Cape business owner who has utilized CDP business and credit services, and who has an established community connection through social responsibility, environmental sustainability, volunteer time or financial contributions.
“Cape Cod Tree and Landscape is a business that the CDP is so proud to have helped grown into the successful enterprise it is today,” said Jay Coburn, Executive Director of the CDP.
“Our employees are what ‘makes the magic happen.’ Without them, we would not be able to be so successful,” said Virginia. “We dedicate this award to them and their hard work and dedication.”
