Charter Cup Fishing Tournament Raises Over 120k

HYANNIS, MA, ISSUED August 5, 2019…… The 3rd Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament raised more than $120,000 for eleven local non-profits.
This invitation only, one-day fishing tournament, which took place on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, featured twelve boat teams competing to raise money for eleven non-profits. Participating businesses and donated boats included Bay Colony Concrete Forms, Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC, Carl F Riedell & Sons, Inc., Botello Lumber Company, Barnstable Police Department with the Bigs in Blue, E.J. Jaxtimer Builder, Inc., Baxter’s Fish ‘n’ Chips, Shepley Wood Products, KAM Appliances, Gibson Waterproofing, Mid-Cape Home Centers, LUAU Sportfishing, Rachel M. Charters, Stray Cat Sportfishing, Ty-One-On Sportfishing, Emma Jack Charters, Rosie S, Lucky Lady II Sportfishing, Captain Joe Green, Captain Bob Perlman and Captain George Noonan.
100% of the proceeds raised from the 3rd Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament directly benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod and the Islands, Cape Abilities, Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center, Cape Cod Child Development, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, Housing Assistance Corp (HAC), Joslin Diabetes Center, May Institute, Special Olympics of Cape Cod & Islands, WellStrong, and the Yarmouth Police Foundation.
It was a sunny, beautiful day on Cape Cod and a perfect day for fishing. The tournament ended with a lively celebration at the weigh-in station right outside Baxter’s Fish ‘n’ Chips, Hyannis. The heaviest bluefish award went to Cape Abilities and Jaxtimer Landscaping, LLC on the Bull Shark. Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod and Shepley Wood Products were awarded heaviest striped bass on Lucky Lady II.
A new award was implemented this year to recognize those who went above and beyond to raise money for their charities. The leadership award (a hand-carved and custom painted striped bass by Ken Whiting) was presented to Bruce Kelly of Bay Colony Concrete Forms, Inc. who continues to demonstrate an unwavering determination and commitment to support WellStrong and the Cape Cod community.
