Mary Martin, Founder of Consigning Women in Harwich and Brewster, is pleased to announce the sale of her retail business to new owner, Michelle Meuter. The award winning consignment business was started in 2005 with one location in Harwich. They expanded to a second location in Brewster in 2013. Michelle Meuter has worked with Mary at Consigning Women for the past six years.
“The consignors, customers, and staff of Consigning Women have become our family over the years, so our decision to sell has been very difficult,” Mary said. “As recent empty nesters, my husband and I decided to relocate, and our clear choice for a new owner was Michelle! As hard as it is to leave the stores, we are equally as excited to see where Michelle takes them. She has been with Consigning Women for over 6 years, and we know with her experience, excitement, and knowledge of the business, Consigning Women will be better than ever!”
Michelle has a similar background to Mary. Both received their Bachelor’s Degrees in Fashion Merchandising and both have an extensive background in retail. Michelle earned her degree from Bay State College in Boston. She has worked in retail sales for The Gap, The Limited and Nordstroms, as well as with Consigning Women.
“I want to thank Mary for giving me this opportunity,” said Michelle. “It is an honor for me to be able to continue the Consigning Women legacy. Mary has made this company into an amazing Cape Cod destination for all! My goal for the store is to keep it as successful as Mary has made it and to keep the tradition going for many more years to come. I have been with Consigning Women for 6 years and the ladies I work with have truly become my Cape Cod family. This opportunity is beyond what I ever thought could happen. Thank you to all the customers and consigners who have made this company grow into what it is today!”
Michelle took ownership on Tuesday, June 27th, just in time for the busy Summer season and holiday weekend. She would like to remind everyone that the stores are open normal hours during the holiday weekend and filled to the brim with great summer apparel & accessories, but there will be no consigning July 1 – 4th.
