The Cape Cod Foundation is the beneficiary of a bequest totaling nearly $6.4 million.

The gift was left by an anonymous donor who felt a strong connection to Cape Cod and wanted to ensure there would be resources in perpetuity to support the community. This is the single largest bequest gift that The Cape Cod Foundation has received to date.

“We are so honored to be the recipient of this tremendously generous gift,” said Kristin O’Malley, president and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation. “The need for our community to have a pool of flexible resources to respond to changing needs has never been more apparent than it has been over the past six months. This gift will support the community now and for years to come.”

As per the donor’s wishes, a portion of the nearly $6.4 million has been allocated to endowment funds to support the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the Cape Cod Center for the Arts. The remaining portion will support the visual arts and other aspects of community life on Cape Cod.  O’Malley noted that the foundation will begin awarding grants from these funds in 2021.
