Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) announced today that Dr. Matthew Libby has been named one of four 2017-2018 Primary Care Leadership fellows of the prestigious Linde Family Institute for Primary Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The Linde Family Fellowship Program provides early and mid-career physician leaders with an opportunity to develop the expertise and skills needed to advance careers in primary care leadership, including practice management and innovation.
Dr. Libby’s fellowship focus will be to develop a highly-functioning Patient Centered Medical Home for OCHS—a rural, federally qualified health center network—using the OCHS Wellfleet Health Center where he serves as Site Medical Director, as the pilot model. Dr. Libby’s fellowship work will be guided by the principles of the Quadruple Aim: to improve patient experience of care, population health, cost efficiency, and clinician and staff job satisfaction.
The Linde Fellowship Program is a competitive, application-based program open to faculty who practice primary care and have a leadership role within the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center system or its affiliates. OCHS is a BIDMC affiliate.
“I am honored to be selected and work toward creating positive change throughout the OCHS system,” says Dr. Libby. “My approach is for all OCHS providers to see each patient as a whole person, combining today’s technology with careful listening that results in the best care and outcomes possible.”
Dr. Libby received a BS in Physics from University of Massachusetts and later earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England, where he received the Sauter Award for Graduate with Distinction “for possessing qualities the faculty would seek in their family physician.” He completed his Family Medicine residency at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center; since 2015 he has been practicing primary care, urgent care, and outpatient addiction treatment at Outer Cape Health Services in Wellfleet. At OCHS, he has also taken on leadership roles as Clinical Director of Informatics and Director of Medical Education. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
