The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod and MassHire Cape and Islands Career Center have partnered to create a series of “pop-up” career fests to be held in Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis and Sandwich in September. The free events will provide job seekers resources for identifying career opportunities and introduce business owners to tools for recruiting qualified employees.
The career fests will be held on the following dates: Sept. 10 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at The Coop’s Sandwich branch (275 Cotuit Road); Sept. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Falmouth branch (238 Worcester Court); Sept. 21 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the East Harwich branch (1470 Orleans Road); and Sept. 23 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Hyannis branch (695 Attucks Lane).
Each event will be led by MassHire specialists who are Certified Professional Resume Writers and experienced recruiters. They will provide job search advice, on-the-spot resume critique, registration opportunities for career center workshops and lists of local job opportunities available.
In addition, The Coop’s team of dedicated small business specialists at each branch have identified Coop clients that are actively hiring. These businesses will be highlighted at their local pop-up event and connected with MassHire specialists to accelerate and streamline the candidate search and hiring process.
“The historically low unemployment rate and labor shortage on the Cape has been a struggle for business owners, particularly as our population has swelled during the pandemic,” said Lisa Oliver, president, chair and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. “MassHire offers tremendous resources at absolutely no cost. We hope these events will act as a portal to connect job seekers with the many opportunities currently available.”
“This partnership with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod will provide us an opportunity to meet and assist The Coop’s customers in their own backyard. Highlighting some of their local business customers at these career fests is an added bonus. We congratulate The Coop for taking such an interest in the welfare of their customers-both individuals and businesses,” added Kristina Dower, director of MassHire Cape and Islands Career Center.
