The Cape Cod Military Support Foundation, a non-profit that supports Active Duty Military, National Guard and Coast Guard families, will hold a “Fill-a-Truck With School Supplies” donation event on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 8am to 4pm at three Ocean State Job Lot Store locations, 50B Teaticket Highway in East Falmouth, 260 Upper County Road in Dennis Port, and 3005 Cranberry Highway in East Wareham.
The donation event supports the foundation’s annual drive to fill backpacks with new school supplies for children of Active Duty Military, National Guard and Coast Guard across Massachusetts. The foundation’s 2017 goal is to fill and distribute 4,000 backpacks. Residents, visitors and store customers can drop off new, unused school supplies at any one of the three locations. For a list of needed supplies visit capecodmilitaryfoundation.com.
“This is our 5th year filling backpacks and every year we not only accomplish our goal, but continue to increase participation,” said Don Cox, foundation President and CEO. “This year we set the bar very high and we need the community’s help to achieve it. We’re grateful for great partners like Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation and the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod who have helped set up donation sites and events like this one. These kids deserve our best efforts to help them succeed in school!”
“Ocean State Job Lot has a long tradition of honoring and supporting active duty and retired military service members and their families through donations and discounts, said David Sarlitto, Executive Director of the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation. Whenever possible, we invite our customers to participate in our charitable efforts. This Fill a Truck donation event provides the perfect vehicle for the community and our customers to join us in supporting local military families. “
