Friends of Bass River, the newly-formed nonprofit dedicated to protecting the delicate ecosystem of the Bass River Estuarine System is excited to welcome Ryan Mann as the new Executive Director. A Cape resident and seasoned environmental champion, Mann graduated from UMASS Amherst with a degree in Natural Resources. He was the Executive Director for the Westport Land Conservation Trust for several years, as well as Stewardship Director for the Harwich Conservation Trust. In addition, Mann has served as the Director of Atlantic Challenge, a non-profit dedicated to sea skill education.
In his new role, Mann will represent Friends of Bass River to the public, towns, government, civic groups and other non-profits to raise awareness of the critical environmental issues the river currently faces. He will also oversee all fundraising events and activities, develop a diverse donor network and manage teams of volunteers interested in river cleanup and monitoring.
“We are thrilled to have a veteran at the helm whose life’s mission and personal love of the water are in direct concert with that of our organization,” says Friends of Bass River Co-Founder DeWitt Davenport. “Ryan will be an incredible asset as we work towards the goals we must achieve to save the river.”
In his spare time, Mann is an avid sailor who enjoys sharing his passion for the sea with his young son. He resides in East Falmouth with his wife and family.
