Greater Hyannis Chamber Announces Barnstable ‘Festival of Lights’

The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce is preparing light up the town of Barnstable with an inaugural event,  the Barnstable Festival of Lights.

The chamber is asking residents and businesses to decorate their homes and buildings with the best holiday light display they can imagine. Everyone who wants to take part can sign up at www.barnstablefestivaloflights.com. Registration is free for residents and $50 for Barnstable businesses.

The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce will create an interactive map so families can jump into their vehicles and tour the town to see the light displays from the safety of their cars.

“The chamber is excited to help bring some Holiday cheer to Barnstable’s seven villages. It has been a tough year for all of us, and we hope that this new event will help boost everyone’s Holiday spirit,” said Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce Interim President/CEO Marty Brummel.

The Best of Residential and Best of Business will win bragging rights, a plaque commemorating their victory, press and social media coverage. They will also have a donation made in their name to a local organization focused on helping the community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Best of Business category winner will also receive a free one-year membership to the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce.

Residents and business in all seven Barnstable villages are eligible to participate.

The contest will run from Dec. 1 through Dec. 22 with the winners announced at 7 p.m. on Dec. 22. Registrations and nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Dec. 15. Visit www.barnstablefestivaloflights.com for more information.
