2018 Gala Honorees
2018 Founders award
The Founders Award recognizes someone with the Founders core values with a longtime association with the Pantry. This year’s recipient is The Cape Cod Chronicle and Publisher Hank Hyora. The Cape Cod Chronicle has supported the Family Pantry for over the past 26 years by holding the annual winter “Helping Neighbors” campaign benefiting the Pantry and recently expanded the campaign to include a summer campaign.  In addition, Hyora and his team have kept the community updated by writing countless features about the Pantry and all of its activities.  The Chronicle ensures that those who need help are kept informed and those who can provide help have the
opportunity.  As one of the two remaining independently owned and operated newspapers on Cape Cod, The Chronicle who has been publishing since 1965 understands that the people in the community are what’s important to keep informed, tell stories about and help when in need. The Pantry is delighted to recognize all Hank Hyora and the Cape Cod Chronicle has done for the Pantry.
2018 President’s Award
The Presidents Award recognizes someone who has supported the pantry significantly over many years. Barnstable County AmeriCorps Cape Cod. AmeriCorps has supported the Pantry over the past six years, working primarily in the 9,000 sq. foot Family Pantry garden.  Each year a team of corps members help to open and close the garden, preparing for planting, aligning irrigation and general clean up.  They return mid season to help with the heavy lifting of weeding, harvesting and rototilling.  This work is critical as the garden typically produces up to 6,300 pound of fresh vegetables and herbs each year for the Pantry clients.  The award will be accepted by Daniel Schell, program coordinator AmeriCorps Cape Cod. The Pantry is so pleased to be able to recognize their volunteer hours by presenting the Family Pantry of Cape Cod’s President’s award to AmeriCorps Cape Cod.
Proceeds from the Gala will benefit the Family Pantry of Cape Cod the largest food pantry on Cape Cod serving anyone in need with no restrictions, geographic or otherwise.
