Wingate Healthcare has named Julie Decoteau executive director of Wingate Residences at Brewster Place, an assisted living community located on a continuum of care campus in Cape Cod. Decoteau is a certified Alzheimer’s educator and certified assisted living nurse with over 13 years of healthcare experience.
“Brewster Place is a community where residents can still have fun and enjoy life even when they need a little bit of assistance,” Decoteau said. “It’s important for us to focus on emotional care and combine our activities with that care to ensure this is the best place for our residents to be.”
Prior to Wingate, Decoteau served as executive director and resident care director for an assisted living community in Harwich, Mass. Decoteau also worked as a wellness nurse for an assisted living and memory care community in Hyannis, Mass.
Decoteau was attracted to her new role because of the community and its staff. “The longevity among the staff is impressive. Some of our employees have been here for 15 plus years,” Decoteau said. “The staff brings a high level of professionalism and they go out of their way for residents.”
Brewster Place recently received several awards for its well-established, dedicated team of staff, including a 2018 Caring Super Star award from Caring.com for excellence in assisted living. Brewster Place was one of only 78 senior living communities nationwide — and the only senior living community on the Cape — to receive this distinction.
Decoteau is a board member for the Harwich Chamber of Commerce and Cape Cod Regional Technical School. She also serves as education co-chair for the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association.
Decoteau holds of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bay State College.
