OpenCape, the Barnstable-based not-for-profit organization that owns and operates Cape Cod’s fiber optic network, has hired Angela Hurwitz as their new Director of Client Solutions. Hurwitz will work alongside Steve Johnston, CEO and the entire OpenCape team to build new business while maintaining exceptional services to the over 160 existing OpenCape customers.
OpenCape administers all of the fiber optic network’s maintenance and operations as well as customer sales and service. Clients include a variety of small and large businesses, educational and scientific institutions, and municipal organizations. “This is a critical step in our evolution. Client support and development is at the core of what we need to do to ensure that OpenCape continues to grow and offer viable, affordable solutions to our region. Our current focus is adding clients and expanding service for the customers we already serve” says Johnston.
“I’m fantastically excited to be at OpenCape” says Hurwitz, who comes to the organization with years of experience in regional and municipal IT services. Most recently Hurwitz coordinated the consolidated communications for the Town of Falmouth and before that spent four years in the Barnstable County IT department where she was the facilitator of the county’s regional IT groups and also managed the Public Safety IT group, which included all the Cape’s police departments.
“It’s great to be back in a position of moving the region forward and creating progress for our area” says Hurwitz. “I look forward to letting businesses and towns know the possibilities. When you connect one business you are connecting the whole region. It means better jobs, new neighbors, new ways to contribute to the community. Every connection really connects us all.”
“Angela’s addition to the team brings someone who is intimately familiar with our region, has worked closely with towns and municipal organizations and has a passion for helping OpenCape become the economic driver of our region” says Johnston.
Hurwitz lives in Barnstable Village and feels that being able to work in a meaningful job so close to home, one that contributes to the region, is a thrill in and of itself. “My new work with OpenCape will benefit my own neighbors and the local businesses I support. And that is what it is all about” she says.
