Hyannis, MA (December 12, 2018) – Orleans Auto Supply is pleased to announce that its Hyannis store manager was honored for his continued commitment to education and training by the University of the Aftermarket during the 2018 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, NV.
Rick Denton, who oversees the company’s Hyannis store, was presented with his Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) certificate at the Expo after completing the professional designation program for those in the motor vehicle aftermarket who have demonstrated a dedication to the industry through ongoing professional development.
“Orleans Auto Supply is deeply committed to continuous education and training for our staff as well as for our customers,” said Dick Fairbanks, Owner of Orleans Auto Supply. “Rick is the first Orleans Auto Supply employee to take on this specific challenge so we congratulate him for this outstanding achievement and know that our customers will be better served by his advanced ability and industry knowledge.”
The University of the Aftermarket’s AAP and MAAP designation programs recognize long-term commitment to the aftermarket and professional development through programs and courses offered by the University and its association partners. Developed in partnership with the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association, the Auto Care Association, AWDA and Northwood University, these programs highlight both the educational and professional achievements of each recipient and, by extension, demonstrate the resulting competitive advantage for their employers and the motor vehicle aftermarket. Industry veterans first earn their (AAP) designation before working toward their Master designation.
“At Orleans Auto Supply, the learning never stops,” said Rick Denton, Hyannis Store Manager. “The automotive industry is constantly changing and I am grateful for the University of the Aftermarket and the learning opportunities they provide so that my team and I have the tools for continued success in the future.”
Rick is a long-time industry professional, having worked at Orleans Auto Supply for 15 years. He has spent the last 11 years as a store manager, first in the Orleans location for seven years, now in the Hyannis store for the past four years. Some of the subjects he studied in pursuit of the necessary credits to obtain his AAP and MAAP included Sales Management, Operations Management, Leadership and Financial Accounting.
He earned his AAP in 2016 and immediately started working toward his MAAP. Since AAP and MAAP participants work toward their designations while maintaining a full-time job, the program encourages students to work online at their own pace. Part of Rick’s journey included Leadership 2.0, a two-week on-site leadership development course attended by many of the industry’s top professionals. Rick completed the program in May of 2016, and was awarded the AAP designation later that year at the annual AAPEX Convention in Las Vegas. He completed the requirements for his MAAP in March of this year, and plans to continue taking courses going forward to stay on top of the latest industry advancements.
Rick was among five industry veterans to receive MAAP certificates which were presented by University of the Aftermarket Director Brian Cruickshank, MAAP, and Northwood University President and CEO Dr. Keith Pretty at Northwood University’s annual graduation and awards luncheon at the Venetian. Included among the recipients was Auto Care Association President Bill Harvey.
