Road to Responsibility, a non-profit organization that offers residential, work/employment, day habilitation and other day supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has received a donation of $20,000 from the Pilgrim Bank Foundation.

With this recent gift, Road to Responsibility will upgrade its residential homes with assistive smart home technology.  Assistive smart home technology can be found in devices such as Alexa and Alexa cameras, and smart televisions, smart plugs, and other smart appliances.  Using this technology allows Road To Responsibility individuals to be more independent, as they are able to do things like turn on and off lights or televisions or adjust the temperature using voice commands.

Additionally, integration of assistive smart home technology may allow Road to Responsibility to serve some people more efficiently while affording residents greater independence.

“We are so grateful for Pilgrim Bank Foundation’s ongoing support of Road To Responsibility,” said Christopher White, CEO of Road To Responsibility Inc.  “Their commitment to our organization is very much appreciated, and this gift will offer the dual benefits of increasing the independence of our individuals, as well as making our organization more environmentally sustainable.”
