The South Shore Chamber of Commerce (www.southshorechamber.org) in conjunction with South Shore Bank is inviting candidates to apply for Leadership South Shore through August.
The community leadership program, modeled after similar initiatives in other states, was launched in the South Shore in 2016 by South Shore Bank and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. The goal of Leadership South Shore is to transform a highly-motivated group of individuals into a network of leaders with knowledge, commitment, and service to benefit the region.
Participants are selected from a pool of applicants who are then led through a 9-month experiential learning curriculum. The program examines regional issues – including education, regional economic development, health and human services, the local justice system and arts and culture – through the perspectives of experts, on-site visits, readings, discussion groups and other activities. The five day-long programs will take place October 2017 through May 2018, with a September 2018 graduation date.
Ideal candidates for Leadership South Shore are those who seek to advance their personal and professional development, wish to influence positive change, and impact the quality of life in the community.
