The Fund for Sandwich to Host Third Annual Grants Award Event

SOUTH YARMOUTH—The Fund for Sandwich of The Cape Cod Foundation will host its third annual grants award event on Sunday, November 10, at 4:00 pm at the Sand Hill School Community Center, 16 Dewey Avenue, Sandwich. Members of the community are welcome to attend.
The Fund will award $750 grants to five nonprofit organizations, identified through a competitive application process, that are serving the Sandwich community. Popular vocalist and Sandwich resident Jeanne Grady Prendergast will perform; refreshments will also be served.
“Our mission is to support the important work local nonprofit organizations are doing in the Sandwich community each year,” said Dr. Madeleine Wing Adler, a member of the Fund’s Advisory committee. “We are especially pleased we are able to increase each award from $500 to $750 during this grant cycle.”
Sandwich residents Paul Houlihan, Paula Johnson, and Tom Rockwell are also members of the Advisory Committee.
The Fund for Sandwich, established in 2015, is one of four Town Funds of The Cape Cod Foundation. The Falmouth Fund, The Chatham Fund, and The Harwich Fund were established in 2009, 2011, and 2018 respectively.
“All four Town Funds started as grassroots efforts by individuals who wanted to make a difference in their communities,” said Kristin O’Malley, President and CEO of The Cape Cod Foundation.  “Building a permanent endowment is a powerful way to help meet the community’s current needs and to plan for its future.”
The Fund’s Advisory Committee will continue to seek private donations to support the wide range of nonprofit organizations serving the Sandwich community and will conduct a fourth grantmaking process in 2020 to support additional organizations.
