The Local Scoop and Chatham Bars Inn Farm launch farm-fresh desert pops

The Local Scoop, an ice cream and frozen yogurt bar in Orleans, has teamed up with the Chatham Bars Inn Farm to launch a line of “farm-to-pop” popsicles
The CBI Farm line is focused on non-dairy, healthy options and features three new pops: a Cucumber Lime Pop, which is made with CBI Farm’s salad burnet, cucumber and lime; a Pink Grapefruit Pop, which incorporates CBI Farm’s Gem Marigold with grapefruit sorbet; and a Watermelon Lemonade Pop, which features fresh watermelon sorbet infused with farm-fresh mint.
Additionally, the Farm is providing a fresh selection of edible flowers for The Local Scoop’s desert toppings bar.  The toppings bar features more than 60 toppings for customers to make their own sundaes.
The new pops are additions to The Local Scoop’s artisan, handmade popsicles, which feature their homemade ice cream, frozen yogurt or sorbet. There are 12 flavors, which are dipped in chocolate and then swirled with local ingredients. For example, the Vineyard Pop features homemade cranberry ice cream made with Truro Vineyards Cranberry Wine. It’s then dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with Cape Cod Sea Salt and Midnight Granola from the Hole In One.
Local Scoop founder Mary DeBartolo, a long-time resident of Orleans, partnered with the Farm because of her passion for supporting locally grown food. DeBartolo, who previously penned a column for Disney’s Family Fun Magazine, founded the inaugural Slow Food Cape Cod Chapter.  She continues to advocate for local, seasonal and sustainably grown food.
“We have been partnering with a local farms and food artisans to find ingredients for our popsicles and our homemade ice cream,” said DeBartolo.  “The Farm at CBI was a perfect fit because of their commitment to sustainable practices and top-notch quality.  The new pops are light, refreshing and dairy-free.  I’m thrilled with the final result.”
The CBI Farm Pops are available at The Local Scoop and at Chatham Bars Inn’s Beach Bar.  The Local Scoop will also be selling them from their traveling “Pop Mobile”, which makes appearances at farmer’s markets, festivals and other local events throughout the year.  The pops retail for $4 each.
The Local Scoop has maintained a tradition of incorporating local ingredients into its menu since its inception in 2012.  Other pops feature local staples like Cape Cod Beer, Cape Cod Lavender, E&T Farm Honey, cookies from the Underground Bakery in Dennis, Cape Cod Beer Peanut Brittle, Chequessett Chocolate, Truro Vineyards Twenty Boat Spiced Rum and Cranberry Wine, Cape Cod Saltworks from Cape Abilities Farm, The Art of Roasting coffee, and granola from the Hole-In-One in Orleans.
