(SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA) – Katelynn’s Closet and The Cape Cod Times Needy Fund will share in more than $10,000 in donations from The Davenport Companies’ Charitable Giving Program this holiday season.
Checks were delivered to both organizations this week after donations were collected from employees of the South Yarmouth-based company.  Every dollar donated by team members was matched by the company.
“What makes Katelynn’s Closet so special to the community is the direct impact the organization has on families in need. The assistance they provide is instant and impactful,” said Christian Davenport, Vice-President/Operations of The Davenport Companies.
Established in 2009, Katelynn’s Closet provides needy children on Cape Cod and the Islands, ages 4-18, with clothing, footwear and basics to help them maintain their dignity and foster self-esteem.
Working with social workers and school nurses who provide the child’s age, size, initials and any special request items like a winter jacket or footwear, Katelyn’s Closet makes the distribution to the social worker through their warehouse.
“For decades, The Cape Cod Times Needy Fund has provided a year-round critical lifeline to many individuals and families who find themselves in crisis and in need of a helping hand,” said Davenport.
“We fully support the work of The Needy Fund that makes a difference in the lives of so many of our fellow Cape Codders,” Davenport said.
Established over 75 years ago, The Needy Fund is the first line of defense for those with basic human needs across Cape Cod.
“All of our team members at The Davenport Companies strive to help make our community a better place to live and work. They find special satisfaction in helping those in need this time of year,” said Davenport. Katelyn’s Closet received $6,917, plus several boxes of donated clothing. The Cape Cod Times Needy Fund was the recipient of $3,675.
The Davenport Companies, established in 1956, is now a fourth-generation family-owned business employing over 1,300 people at more than a dozen companies throughout New England.
