WineFORWARD, FORWARD’s second annual virtual “blue jeans” gala fundraiser, will take place Dec. 3, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., via Zoom from the Cape Media Center in Dennis.
FORWARD (Friends Or Relatives With Autism & Related Disabilities) is an independent 501(c) 3 nonprofit founded in 2014 by a group of concerned citizens whose common goal is to help meet the critical housing needs of adults with autism and related disabilities.
One year ago, eight adults with profound developmental disabilities in need of around-the-clock care moved into their brand-new homes on Cape Cod. FORWARD invites the community to join in toasting that anniversary and celebrating the Cape Abilities support staff who provide care for the residents.
Attendees will also learn more about the work being done by the Cape’s direct support professional caregivers and about FORWARD’s plans to build much-needed affordable housing.
Ticket buyers are automatically entered in a 50-50 raffle and will receive three full-size bottles of Truro Vineyards’ wine: a chardonnay, Triumph (a red), and back by popular demand, Cranberry Red in a lighthouse bottle, along with two wine glasses and a corkscrew. This year’s tasting will also include a bonus taste test of Truro Vineyards’ new wine in a can.
Ticket proceeds will enable the development of eight more new affordable supported housing units, this time in the form of small individual apartments for higher functioning adults on the autism spectrum who still need supportive care, but do not require 24/7 staffing.
