Cape and Islands United Way Announces 2026 Community Baby Showers to Support New and Expectant Families

Events on Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, and Nantucket will provide essential supplies, resources, and community support for local parents

Cape Cod, MA — The Cape and Islands United Way will once again host its annual Community Baby Showers this spring, bringing together local organizations, businesses, and volunteers to support new and expectant parents across the region.

Modeled after the spirit of a traditional baby shower, these welcoming community events provide essential baby supplies, resources, and encouragement to low-income families preparing to welcome a child. Since launching the program, Cape and Islands United Way has helped serve more than 300 expectant families across the Cape and Islands.

The 2026 Community Baby Showers will take place on:

  • Martha’s Vineyard – May 9, 2026
  • Cape Cod – May 17, 2026
  • Nantucket – May 28, 2026

Each event offers participating families access to important early childhood items such as diapers, wipes, baby clothing, and other essentials, along with opportunities to connect with local organizations that provide services and support for parents and young children.

“Welcoming a baby is an exciting moment for families, but it can also come with financial challenges,” said Mark Skala, CEO of the Cape and Islands United Way. “Our Community Baby Showers help ensure that parents across Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard have access to the supplies and resources they need to give their children a strong start.”

In addition to supporting local families, the program provides an opportunity for the broader community to get involved. Local businesses are invited to participate as sponsors, helping fund essential supplies and event costs while demonstrating their commitment to supporting families in the region.

Community members can also contribute by donating baby items or making a financial gift to support the initiative. Donations help ensure that every participating family receives a meaningful collection of supplies and connections to services that can support them through early parenthood.

Expectant mothers and families interested in participating can learn more and register through Cape and Islands United Way.
