Program surpasses $1 million in total Educational Mini-Grants since inception
Hyannis, MA – Cape Cod 5 recently welcomed local public school teachers to its headquarters (HQ5) for a reception celebrating the recipients of this year’s Educational Mini-Grants program. Through its Charitable Endowment, Cape Cod 5 awarded 257 grants totaling more than $120,000 to over 300 teachers from 83 public and charter schools across Cape Cod, the Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts. Based on teacher estimates, the funded projects are expected to impact over 32,000 students.
The grants support creative, teacher-developed programs and classroom experiences that might not otherwise be possible. This year’s funded projects span a wide array of subjects and initiatives, including science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM), community engagement, alternative learning spaces and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
This year also marked a major milestone for the program, which has now surpassed $1 million in total Educational Mini-Grants awarded since it began in 2000.
During the reception, Stephanie Dennehy, Executive Vice President, thanked local educators for their dedication and recognized the lasting impact they have on students and communities throughout the region.
“We’re honored to recognize this year’s Educational Mini-Grant recipients and to thank all of our local educators for the dedication they bring to their students every day,” said Stephanie. “Reaching more than $1 million in Educational Mini-Grants since the program began reflects Cape Cod 5’s longstanding commitment to supporting local schools, empowering teachers and investing in the future of our communities.”
Education & Enrichment is one of Cape Cod 5’s key community engagement focus areas. The Educational Mini-Grant program helps teachers bring innovative ideas to life and create meaningful learning opportunities for students.
Applications for next year’s program will be available in the fall. More information about this year’s Mini-Grants program can be found at https://www.capecodfive.com/community/mini-grants
