Plymouth MA – (January 14th, 2025) – EF Senior Care is proud to announce that Co-Founder Matt Muratore was recently appointed to the Commonwealth’s Assisted Living Residences Commission.

His appointment, by House Minority Leader Bradley Jones, Jr., reflects Matt’s experience
and knowledge from a 30+ year career in the senior living industry. On December 31, 2024, Matt completed his fifth term as the State Representative for Plymouth’s First District. This appointment reflects Matt’s continued commitment to improving access to care and outcomes for the aged, infirm and indigent across the Commonwealth, and to strengthening the financial foundation for those facilities and professionals who provide this invaluable care.

The Commission, which was formed as part of the landmark long-term care legislation passed last year and signed by Governor Healey, is tasked with developing sustainable solutions for improving access and quality of care across the Commonwealth’s 250+ Assisted Living Residences (ALRs) which serve over 16,000 residents.

The Commission’s charter includes examining:
• the current statutory, regulatory, and certification requirements for ALRs including
change of ownership, determination of need, and clustering of facilities
• the delivery of expanded basic health services in ALRs
• safety standards and trends in incident reporting to EOEA and the Long Term Care
Ombudsman’s office
• advertising practices, transparency and consumer protections for residents and
families, and
• assisted living best practices in other states.

The commission will hold public hearings and file its report and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the state Senate and House of Representatives by August 1, 2025.

Matt invites ALR stakeholders, residents, families, facility owners and operators to reach out to him with ideas and recommendations about the Commission’s mandate and priorities. He can be reached at Mathew@EFSeniorCare.com. Matt was previously appointed by Governor Baker to serve on the Nursing Facility Task Force that helped develop long-term solutions to similar issues facing Skilled Nursing Facilities which were incorporated in the last year’s long-term care legislation.
