Named CEO/Executive Director of Cape Media Center

MAY 28, 2026, HYANNIS, MA — The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce announced today that Marty Bruemmel will be stepping down from his role as President/CEO to accept a new leadership position as Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of Cape Media Center in Dennis Port.

Bruemmel, who has served as President/CEO of the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce since 2020, has been a visible and energetic advocate for Hyannis, Barnstable, and the broader Cape Cod business community. During his tenure, he helped guide the Chamber through a period of significant change, including the challenges of the pandemic recovery, evolving tourism patterns, increased pressure on small businesses, and the growing need for strong regional partnerships.

Under Bruemmel’s leadership, the Chamber expanded its role as both a business advocate and community convener. He strengthened relationships with the Town of Barnstable, local business districts, regional chambers, nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, and economic development partners. His work helped elevate the Chamber’s voice on issues affecting local employers, tourism, downtown vitality, infrastructure, workforce challenges, and the overall economic health of Hyannis and the Mid-Cape region.

Bruemmel also played a key role in strengthening and growing signature Chamber programs and events, including the Greater Hyannis Chamber Father’s Day Car Show, Business After Hours networking events, tourism-focused initiatives, member engagement programs, ribbon cuttings, and regional promotional efforts. He has been actively involved in expanding the Chamber’s communications, sponsorship opportunities, and public presence, helping to keep Hyannis front and center as a destination for visitors, residents, and businesses alike.

“Marty has brought passion, creativity, and a deep commitment to the Greater Hyannis business community,” said Erica Sterling, Chair of the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. “His leadership helped the Chamber navigate a complex period while continuing to champion our members, support local businesses, and promote Hyannis as one of Cape Cod’s most important economic and cultural centers. We are grateful for his service and wish him continued success in this exciting new role.”

In addition to his Chamber leadership, Bruemmel brings more than 40 years of management, entrepreneurship, communications, sales, marketing, and community leadership experience to his new position at Cape Media Center. His background includes extensive work in public affairs, business development, nonprofit leadership, event production, and media engagement.

Bruemmel has also had a long-standing relationship with Cape Media Center, having served on its Board of Directors since 2012. Over the years, he has been involved in the organization’s growth, governance, community programming, and strategic direction. His media experience includes hosting and conducting interviews, developing public-facing content, promoting nonprofit and civic initiatives, and using media platforms to tell the stories of local organizations, businesses, leaders, and community issues.

Cape Media Center serves the towns of Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, and Chatham, providing community media access, local programming, government coverage, educational resources, and opportunities for residents and organizations to share their voices. As CEO/Executive Director, Bruemmel will lead the organization through its next chapter of growth, modernization, and expanded community impact.

“Cape Media Center is entering one of the most important and exciting chapters in its history, and Marty is uniquely prepared to help lead that transition,” said Chris Cataldo, Vice-Chair of the Cape Media Center Board of Directors. “His long-standing service on the Board, his deep knowledge of the organization, and his proven leadership in business, communications, community engagement, and nonprofit management make him an outstanding choice for this role. As we prepare for our move to a new state-of-the-art media facility in Dennis Port, Marty brings the relationships, energy, and vision needed to expand Cape Media Center’s reach, strengthen our programming, and ensure that residents, organizations, businesses, and local governments across the region continue to have a strong platform to share their stories.”

“This is a bittersweet transition,” said Bruemmel. “Serving the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce has been one of the great privileges of my professional life. I am deeply proud of the work we have done together to support our members, promote Hyannis, and strengthen partnerships across the community. At the same time, Cape Media Center represents an extraordinary opportunity to combine my passion for media, storytelling, civic engagement, and community service. I am excited to help lead the organization into its next chapter.”

To support a smooth transition, Bruemmel plans to remain with the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce in a part-time capacity through the summer, assisting with ongoing programs, member relations, and leadership transition efforts as needed.

The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will announce transition plans and next steps for Chamber leadership in the coming weeks.
