(SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA) – The Cape Cod Foster Closet in Orleans and the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center in Hyannis shared $6,000 in donations on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from The Davenport Companies’ Charitable Giving Program.
Donations of cash, food, and clothing are collected from employees of the South Yarmouth-based Davenport Companies during the month of December. The value of all the donations to both organizations is matched with a cash donation by the company.
“Each year, our team members show their generosity by donating to the designated charities, showing the true meaning of the holiday season. This year’s beneficiaries are doing valuable work in the community, helping veterans and adoptive and caregiver families,” said DeWitt Davenport, CEO of The Davenport Companies.
The Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center’s mission is to provide comprehensive life sustaining services for Cape Cod veterans and their families. Services provided to all veterans and their families include access to a full-service food pantry. The Center was the recipient of $3,000 in cash and food donations.
The second beneficiary this holiday season was The Cape Cod Foster Closet, which also received $3,000 in cash and clothing. Their mission is to support foster, adoptive and relative caregiver families on the Cape and Islands by providing material goods (such as clothing and baby gear), helping hands and emotional support.
Davenport Companies team members can donate to one or both organizations.
“This is really about Cape Codders helping their fellow residents during the holiday season – giving them a hand up,” said Davenport.
Companies that took part in this year’s holiday giving campaign included Davenport Realty Trust, Davenport Building Company, Davenport Realty Rentals, Blue Rock Golf Course, All Cape Self Storage, Cape Cod Fence Co., and Thirwood Place.
The Davenport Companies, established in 1956, is a fourth-generation family-owned business employing over 300 people at more than a dozen companies throughout New England and beyond.
