The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod Charitable Foundation Trust Surpasses $1 Million Milestone in Grants to Local Nonprofits

Amazing Grace of Cape Cod, Cape Cod Maritime Museum, Falmouth Housing Trust, Farming Falmouth and Lower Cape Outreach Council Are Beneficiaries for First Quarter of FY2026

HYANNIS, Mass. (July 15, 2025) — The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, through its Charitable Foundation Trust (The Coop Foundation), recently eclipsed the $1 million milestone in grants awarded to nonprofit organizations in Barnstable County.  The bank also announced five recipients of foundation grants for the first quarter of its 2026 fiscal year.

Since its establishment in late 2018, The Coop Foundation has awarded grants to 83 nonprofit organizations on Cape Cod. Major capital campaigns supported have included: Cape Cod Community College Frank and Maureen Wilkens Science & Engineering Center; Cape Cod Healthcare new patient tower at Cape Cod Hospital; Outer Cape Health Services Harwich Port patient center; Helping Our Women: Ann Maguire Women’s Wellness Center; Heritage Museums & Gardens Barbey Family Welcome Center; YMCA Cape Cod Hyannis Early Learning Center and new Falmouth branch; and Cotuit Center for the Arts ceramic studio and campus expansion.

In addition to the Foundation, the bank’s Corporate Giving program has provided more than $1,700,000 in financial assistance to deserving organizations and initiatives during the same period.

During a recent meeting of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, the following new grants were awarded for the first quarter of the bank’s 2026 fiscal year:

  • $5,000 to Falmouth Housing Trust to support installation of an innovative nitrogen reduction wastewater system at its new Waquoit Bay housing development.
  • $5,000 to Farming Falmouth to provide funding for “The Patch,” a six-acre farm and homestead to support the organization’s farming, food access and education programs.
  • $5,000 to Lower Cape Outreach Council to support its nine emergency food pantries providing groceries to households that visit from the Lower and Outer Cape.
  • $2,500 to Cape Cod Maritime Museum to support scholarships for its Young Mariner Program, an educational summer program designed to engage and inspire youth ages 8-12 in maritime exploration, marine science and hands-on learning.
  • $2,000 to Amazing Grace of Cape Cod to support the full cost for a child to attend its week-long residential summer program at Camp Burgess in Sandwich designed for children and families affected by incarceration.

In addition, the bank also issued $22,500 in multi-year grant disbursements to Big Brother Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands, Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless, Helping Our Women and Heritage Museums & Gardens.
