Provincetown LGBTQ+ Community Supports Outer Cape Health Services

Local Fundraisers Highlight Role of Community in Sustaining Vital Healthcare Services Amid Funding Uncertainty

Harwich Port, Mass., October 1, 2025 – The LGBTQ+ community in Provincetown further affirmed its support for Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) through recent fundraising events, including the White Party Provincetown and Nina West’s performances of Sugar in the Tank.

The White Party, held on August 30 at Delft Haven by the Bay, raised over $208,000 to benefit all OCHS programs and services. Bob Lenzi, who has led the White Party since 2014 following the passing of founder Peter Page, continues to guide the event as a key source of community-driven support for healthcare on the Outer Cape.

Earlier in the month, Nina West, a former contestant and All Stars participant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, performed Sugar in the Tank at Pilgrim House, raising $3,525 for OCHS’s “testNtreat” program. The Nina West Foundation matched this amount, bringing the total contribution to $8,000.

The “testNtreat” program, named to reflect both testing and treatment, emphasizes accessibility and reduces stigma around sexual health services. The program developed by OCHS offers confidential HIV and STI testing, treatment, and navigation for PrEP, (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) a preventive HIV medication – and PEP, (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis), a 28-day antiretroviral treatment started within 72 hours after potential HIV exposure to prevent infection.

“Provincetown’s LGBTQ+ community has always been an incredible partner in supporting local healthcare. The generosity of events like the White Party and Nina West’s performances allows OCHS to sustain not only “testNtreat” but our full range of programs,” said Jeffrey Schaffer, RN and Program Manager of Sexual Health at OCHS. “Through this support, we can continue offering stigma-free sexual health services, including PrEP and PEP, and provide guidance, testing, and treatment to individuals who might otherwise face barriers.”

“Strong community support is essential for OCHS to provide comprehensive care across the Outer Cape, especially as federal funding remains unpredictable,” said Dr. Damian Archer, CEO of Outer Cape Health Services. “The White Party and Nina West’s fundraiser are perfect examples of a community stepping up at the right time to ensure care is sustained. Their engagement strengthens our programs – from primary care to initiatives like “testNtreat” – and helps us meet the needs of everyone in our region.”
