Ceremony Included Dennis-Yarmouth Honors Ensemble Band, Time Capsule Dedication, and Special Philanthropic Announcement
HYANNIS, Mass., October 1, 2025 — Cape & Coast Bank, formerly The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, celebrated its new name and look Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting at its Hyannis headquarters. The 104-year-old institution is committed to serving Cape Cod and nearby communities with a continued focus on innovation and investment in the local economy.
“Today, we honor the incredible work that has brought us here, to welcome new leadership that will guide the bank into the future and embrace the new brand identity of this amazing institution,” said Lisa Oliver, retiring Cape & Coast Bank Chair, President and CEO. Erik Porter, the bank’s chief financial officer, will serve as the next president and CEO.
“Today we unveil the future of this bank, which reflects not only who we are, but who we aspire to become,” said Porter. “It’s more than a name. It reflects who we are, our deep roots on Cape Cod, our commitment to guiding clients with care and confidence, and our vision for serving our community with excellence.”
As part of honoring Lisa Oliver’s retirement and her lasting impact on both the Bank and the Cape Cod community, the new Cape & Coast Bank Future Leaders Scholarship was announced. This initiative reflects the values that define Cape & Coast Bank – commitment to community, creating opportunity, and investing in the next generation of leaders. Beginning in 2026, four Cape Cod students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship in recognition of their academic excellence and dedication to community service. Details on eligibility and the application process will be available in January 2026.
In addition, to celebrate each year of Lisa’s leadership, Cape & Coast Bank awarded eight $5,000 community impact gifts to local nonprofit organizations that embody her passion for strengthening Cape Cod:
- Arts Foundation of Cape Cod
- Cape Abilities
- Cape & Islands United Way
- Cape Cod Foundation – Women & Girls Fund
- Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation
- Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod
- Mass Audubon Cape Cod
- WE CAN
These gifts and the new scholarship together honor Lisa’s years of service and the bank’s commitment to carry forward her legacy of building the next generation of leaders.
The morning’s events also highlighted the bank’s plans for a time capsule, to be opened in 2075. Inside will be historical bank-related documents and photos, along with letters to the future from employees and customers, and some fun items including music of today, sand from a Cape Cod beach, and currency. More than artifacts, it is intended to capture the spirit of the bank and community for future generations.
The ceremony featured music from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School’s Honors Ensemble Band, comments from Cape Cod dignitaries Paul Niedzwiecki, CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and Kristin O’Malley, president and CEO of the Cape Cod Foundation, as well as remarks from bank’s corporate leadership.
