Annual Golf Event Benefits Cape Cod Veterans

20th ANNUAL BLUE ROCK GOLF COURSE TURKEY SHOOT RAISES $2,000 IN CASH FOR CAPE & ISLANDS VETERANS OUTREACH CENTER FOOD PANTRY

*Another $1,500 in food and in-kind donations added to the total*

(SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA) – Blue Rock Golf Course in South Yarmouth hosted its 20th Annual Turkey Shoot-Out and Food Pantry Drive on Saturday, November 22, 2025, raising $2,000 in cash and over $1,500 in food and in-kind donations for the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center.

The Center’s pantry in Hyannis has become a food lifeline for hundreds of veterans and their families who are facing food insecurity on a regular basis.

Barnstable County has the highest percentage of veterans in Massachusetts and the largest number of veterans over the age of 65 in the state. That makes the Cape & Islands

Veterans Outreach Center’s mission to ensure all veterans who need food assistance even more critical. Approximately 700 families will be served by the Center’s Food Pantry during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Proceeds from the registration fees, combined with food and cash collected from golfers and team members at The Davenport Companies brought the total value of this year’s donation to just over $3,500, all of which will be used to help those veterans in need this holiday season.

“As a nation, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the men and women who have worn our country’s uniform. We were honored to play a small part in helping to make sure veterans and their families will not go hungry this year,” said Blue Rock Golf Course PGA Pro Nick Wiseman.

In a true act of generosity, several winners donated the turkeys they won back to the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center.

The winning team included James Brooks, Patrick Moore, Christopher Jones, and Colin Roth.
