Event aims to celebrate the agency’s 500+ volunteer mentors and invites the public to join!
Cape Cod, MA: January is National Mentoring Month and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBSCCI) is gearing up to celebrate—this year at a new venue! The agency’s annual event, Magic of Mentoring, is being held Thursday, January 22nd from 5:30pm-8pm at The Landshark Bar & Grill at Margaritaville Resort in Hyannis! Year eight of the event plans to celebrate the agency’s 500+ volunteer Bigs with an evening of music, food, libations and auction items.
“We are excited, and grateful, to our partners at Margaritaville for opening up their venue to help elevate our mission during National Mentoring Month,” said JR Mell, Regional Director with BBBSCCI. “Our volunteers are truly the backbone of our mission, and this year we are inviting all those who may have considered becoming a mentor to join us as we say thank you to our Bigs.”
The evening, spearheaded by BBBSCCI’s Bigs Council, will feature raffle items, light appetizers, a cash bar, and a free drink ticket for current mentors, or those who sign up to become a mentor that night. BBBSCCI encourages those who have considered volunteering to attend and meet current mentors and staff in a no pressure environment. More information can be found at BBBSCCI’s social media channels (@capebigs) and RSVPs can be made online: https://tinyurl.com/capebigs
With more than 80 kids waiting for a mentor on the Cape and Islands, 51 of them boys, BBBSCCI is especially in need of male volunteers. The event is free, pre-registration is suggested, and guests must be 21 or older to attend.
