Funding earmarked for sensory room equipment
MARSHFIELD, MA, ISSUED APRIL 2, 2026… Road to Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is pleased to announce that it has received a $6,000 grant from Bailey’s Team for Autism. The funding will be used to purchase equipment for RTR’s sensory room, further enhancing the organization’s ability to provide therapeutic, individualized supports for the people it serves.
RTR’s sensory room provides a safe, calming, and structured environment that helps individuals regulate their bodies and emotions through controlled sensory experiences. The space incorporates specialized lighting, tactile materials, and adaptive equipment to promote self-regulation, reduce anxiety, and encourage communication and engagement.
“This generous grant allows us to expand a resource that has profound impact on the people we daily support, “said Christopher T. S. White, Ed. D., president and CEO of Road to Responsibility. “We are deeply grateful to Bailey’s Team for Autism and its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
“We were delighted to support RTR again this year, after funding last year’s project providing opportunities for adults with autism to practice emotional regulation skills helping to secure and sustain vocational opportunities in their communities,” said Sammi Robertson, President of Bailey’s Team. “As the mother of a 26-year-old adult with autism, I know first-hand the importance of respecting the sensory needs of individuals on the spectrum. With that said, our Board of Directors was very pleased to help RTR provide the necessary tools to support their residents.”
Founded in 2001 and incorporated in 2008, Bailey’s Team for Autism is a non-profit organization raising funds, awareness, and acceptance in support of individuals living with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Bailey’s Team for Autism focuses on programming, education, and research and has become a valued regional partner to organizations providing autism-related services.
About Road to Responsibility, Inc.
Celebrating more than 38 years of making lives better, Road to Responsibility, Inc. (RTR) was established in 1988 with the overarching belief that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve to have full, rich, and rewarding lives in the community, and therefore works to provide the means, the opportunity, and the support necessary to allow citizens with disabilities to take their place as productive members of the community. RTR offers residential, work/employment, day habilitation and other day supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. RTR supports individuals with very diverse needs, including those with significant challenges who would otherwise go unserved if not for RTR. This model has proven successful and yielded positive results for the organization and the individuals served.
