KINGSTON, PLYMOUTH, MA ISSUED MAY 13, 2026…Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless, working to nurture and empower families and individuals seeking basic needs assistance by providing them shelter, food, and educational resources necessary to reach their potential and independence, is proud to announce that Andrew Hokanson, manager of the Coalition’s Food Pantry program, has been named a 2026 40 Under 40 award winner by Cape & Plymouth Business.
The 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate the region’s brightest young leaders who are making a significant impact in their industries and communities. These awards recognize individuals who are trailblazers, innovators, and changemakers—those who go above and beyond in their careers and through volunteer work, community engagement, and leadership.
Hokanson, who joined Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless as a part-time food pantry van driver, quickly became a highly valued member of the team, and soon advanced into the full-time role as Food Pantry manager. In addition to leading a team of staff and volunteers who serve hundreds of people each week, he has developed strong relationships with the Greater Boston Food Bank and multiple supportive businesses on the South Shore to ensure the pantry can reliably meet the needs of the community. Under his leadership, the pantry has welcomed an unprecedented number of volunteer supporters, including members of local community service organizations.
Hokanson, a resident of Plymouth, collaborates with South Shore leaders dedicated to addressing food insecurity. This group, together with local legislators, meets regularly to identify needs and share best practices in a dedicated effort to ensure all food insecure individuals and families in the community are supported.
“Andrew’s leadership embodies the heart of our mission,” said Suzanne R. Giovanetti, CEO of Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless. “His dedication, innovation, and compassion has immeasurably strengthened our Food Pantry program. This well-deserved recognition is a reflection of the impact he makes every single day.”
Hokanson and fellow 40 Under 40 honorees will be celebrated on June 11 at Margaritaville Resort Cape Cod in Hyannis.
