Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands 26th Annual Golf for Kids Breaks Records

Event raises more than $163,000 and honors 2026 Bigs of the Year
Mashpee, MA: Sunny skies, warm temps and a perfect breeze greeted 158 golfers at Willowbend on Monday, May 18 for the sold-out Golf for Kids Tournament benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBSCCI). The tournament, now in its 26th year, has helped BBBSCCI to generate the critical funds needed to support its mission of matching youth with a volunteer mentor from the community to help support them as they grow.

This year’s overall winners, playing the Bay/Bog course with a score of -17 was Peter Govoni, Dominic Macone, Eric Robinson and Bill Sakavitz. The closest to the pin winner was Mary Ellen Lawrence, with a distance of two feet, three inches. The post-play reception recognized the agency’s Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year, David Fryxell and his five-year friendship with Little Brother Jack, and Big Sister Michele O’Brien and her six-year friendship with Little Sister Hailey.

“We are incredibly grateful to our golf committee, led by Jonathan Jaxtimer. Thank you to our sponsors, especially our Premier Sponsor of nine years, OneZero Financial, as well as our Perfect Drive Sponsors, Jack and Elaine Brouillard and Carl F. Riedell & Sons for their steadfast support of our mission,” said JR Mell, Regional Director with BBBSCCI. Our Cape & Islands community always steps up for the kids of our region and this year’s tournament was a shining of example of that support.”

BBBSCCI is already looking forward to next year’s event and encourages those interested to register early and check their website, www.CapeBigs.org, often for more information.
