Road to Responsibility Host John’s Crazy Socks Founders at Strategic Planning Day

Father/son entrepreneurs share empowering story of inclusion and innovation

MARSHFIELD, MA, ISSUED AUGUST 11, 2026… Road to Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities welcomed John Cronin and Mark X. Cronin, the father-son team behind John’s Crazy Socks, as featured speakers during its annual Strategic Planning Day.

The duo shared their journey of building a nationally recognized enterprise, rooted in inclusion and mission-driven inspiration – a story that began in 2016 when John, who has Down syndrome, entered his final year at Huntington High School and Wilson Tech in New York, where he studied retail and customer service. At the same time, Mark was undergoing his own career transformation, building online businesses. Faced with a decision as to what to do following graduation, John began looking at options, but what he wanted most was to work alongside his father in a venture that was both fun and purposeful – and so John’s Crazy Socks was born, a father/son enterprise that has evolved into a multi-million-dollar social enterprise “with a mission to spread happiness.”

John’s Crazy Socks is widely recognized as the world’s largest sock store, with thousands of styles spanning novelty, athletic, thematic, seasonal, and charity-support designs. The company employs a workforce in which more than half of the team members have differing abilities, a core element of the Cronin’s mission to demonstrate what people can achieve when given opportunities and expectations.

The Cronin’s have become nationally known, speaking at corporate conferences from Microsoft to IBM, testifying twice before the U.S. Congress, appearing on numerous television shows, including the CBS Evening News, Good Morning America, and The Today Show, and featured in Money Magazine, the New York Post, and Newsday. Their message of possibility and purpose has resonated across industries and audiences, making their appearances a source of inspiration.

The all-day Strategic Planning Day also featured Scott Pralinsky of South Shore AI in Whitman, Massachusetts, who gave an entertaining presentation on how care providers can incorporate AI in engaging and supportive ways.
