Tenured CFO selected as new President/CEO, bringing a solid foundation of financial strategy and expertise to the role.

PROVINCETOWN, MA – The Seamen’s Bank Board of Trustees selected Michael K. Silva as President and Chief Executive Officer last week, concluding a search that yielded over 300 applicants. Silva has served as Interim President since May 2026 and will continue in his role as Treasurer until a replacement is named. Silva has held the position of Treasurer for over 20 years.
Silva’s appointment caps a career of over three decades at the bank, where he has served in a variety of roles, including commercial loan officer, controller, treasurer and most recently, Chief Financial Officer, before stepping in to lead the institution temporarily earlier this year.
At the onset of his career, Silva managed a portfolio of commercial loans, assessing financial risk, determining stable organizational decisions and supporting clients through major investments. His knack for financial acumen propelled him into the role of Controller, overseeing policies, procedures and reporting. As treasurer and CFO, Silva developed prowess for long-term financial stability, managing steady, measured and thoughtful Asset and Capital growth.
A lifelong Cape Codder, Silva brings deep personal understanding of the communities the bank serves — and a steady, familiar hand to guide it into its next chapter. As a Truro, MA native, he has watched local businesses align with the seasonal economy and helped to develop creative products and services that meet the challenges involved.
“Michael’s qualifications speak for themselves,” said Steven Roderick, Chairman of the Board. “He has been a strong fiscal manager and has proven himself to be a strong leader. Additionally, he brings over 30 years of dedication and unwavering loyalty to Seamen’s Bank. During the search process, we spoke with several professionals who commented on the Bank’s strong capital position and management; We credit this to Michael’s leadership as CFO. The combination of seasoned stewardship and deep commitment to our institution made him the clear choice.”
“After 33 years of growing with and serving this bank — initially as a commercial loan officer then controller, treasurer, and CFO — I am honored to have been selected by the Board of Trustees to serve as Chief Executive Officer and President,” said Silva. “I am humbled by the confidence and faith the Board has placed in me and am grateful for the opportunity to lead an exceptional organization alongside our talented leadership team and dedicated staff. Together, we will build on the Bank’s strong financial foundation, remain focused on our customers and communities, and position the organization for continued success and strategic growth — prioritizing long-term stability over short-term risk.”
Silva also said he looks forward to continuing the Bank’s history of philanthropy through the Long Point Charitable Foundation.
“Our financial strength allows our Seamen’s Long Point Charitable Foundation to invest in many worthy non-profit causes throughout the community in areas such as the arts, healthcare & social services, school and children’s programs, food & housing assistance and other general community support,” he said. “As a community bank, we remain committed to returning your deposits back into our economy.”
Silva’s appointment reflects the Board’s confidence in continued, solid leadership as the Bank looks toward future growth and devoted service to the Cape Cod community.
