Canine contest winner to be crowned at inaugural event hosted by Just Around the Corner
PLYMOUTH, MA, ISSUED MAY 29, 2026… Local canines will strut their stuff on Saturday, June 13th during the inaugural America’s Hometown Hound Festival, promising a day filled with community spirit, wagging tails and four-legged charisma.
Hosted by Just Around the Corner (JAC), the Plymouth area’s premier pet-sitting and dog-walking business, the celebration will shine a light on local pups, culminating in the crowning of the stand-out hound.
The community event will be held at Nelson Memorial Park, 255 Water Street in Plymouth, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 13 and will feature over 15 local pet-friendly business vendors, craft tables, a police department Comfort Dog, entertainment, a Blessing of the Animals, and a host of other family-friendly activities certain to delight.
In partnership with Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals, Just Around the Corner will donate 50% of all vendor fees to this charitable organization which is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners by raising funds to help pet owners in need. JAC will have boxes available for participants to bring supplies such as dog and cat food, kitty litter, dog and cat toys, and other items to be given to Plymouth Helping Hands to distribute to those who need them.
A contestant’s parade will highlight the event, with entrants in this year’s tail-wagging contest sharing the spotlight before the winning pooch receives their crown.
Over 100 nominations for this year’s top dog have been entered, and online voting to determine who the America’s Hometown Hound finalists goes through Saturday June 6. The public is invited to vote for their favorites here: AHH Voting Link. Judges will vote on the Top 3 dogs and name the next America’s Hometown Hound during the festival.
Local members of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts House of Representatives will participate in the event and a formal citation recognizing the winning dog will be signed by the Massachusetts House Speaker, Ronald Mariano.
This year’s winner will represent America’s Hometown Hound at various events and appearances throughout the year, demonstrating local support at charity fundraisers, small business shopping events, and other community festivities.
“We’re excited to bring our community together to celebrate the pups who bring so much joy to our lives,” said Pamela Ranheim, founder of Just Around the Corner and originator of America’s Hometown Hound Contest, now in its sixth year. “Please join us on June 13th for a day of celebration, connection, and unconditional love.”
Last year’s contest featured over 100 contestants, and generated more than 65,000 votes.
