Mashpee, Mass. – On May 19, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBSCCI) hosted its annual Golf for Kids Tournament at Willowbend Country Club. Guests played golf, participated in raffles and giveaways, and attended a reception to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands. At the event, Laura Dulac and Linda Ricks as well as Corey Frederickson and Brady Hodges were honored as the agency’s Cape Cod & the Islands Matches of the Year. The Golf for Kids Tournament raised over $137,000 to support local youth mentorship programs.
Both Dulac and Frederickson understand firsthand the positive impact that having a caring adult in their corner can have on a young person’s life. Both matches are enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands’ signature community-based program for which adult mentors, referred to as Bigs, are paired with youth and meet for two to three hours, a couple times a month on outings of their choice. The leading one-to-one mentoring program for youth in Massachusetts provides youth with support to help them reach their full potential.
“For 25 years, our Golf for Kids Tournament has combined our supporters love of golf and philanthropy to support the BBBS mission”, says Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands Regional Director JR Mell. “As we celebrate 51 years of service to our community, this tournament, led by numerous committee members past and present, has been a mainstay to ensuring thousands of kids find an additional, positive adult in their corner.”
The event, led by committee and champion leader Jonathan Jaxtimer, could not be successful without top sponsors OneZero Financial Systems, E.J. Jaxtimer Builders Inc. Jack and Elaine Brouillard, Rodman Ride for Kids, Carl F. Riedell and Son and many more generous supporters!
