Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands Hosts Golf for Kids Tournament

YARMOUTH, Mass. – On May 13, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBSCCI) hosted its annual Golf for Kids Tournament at the Cummaquid Golf Club. Guests played golf, participated in raffles and giveaways, and attended a reception to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands. At the event, Ian Ives and Keegan Robbins-Baird as well as Leanne Priest and Juliana Durante were honored as the agency’s Cape Cod & the Islands Matches of the Year. The Golf for Kids Tournament raised over $110,000 to support local youth mentorship programs.

Having had his own mentors as a child, Ives understands firsthand the positive impact that having a caring adult in your corner can have on a young person’s life. Ives and Keegan are enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands’, part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts, signature community-based program for which adult mentors, referred to as Bigs, are paired with youth and meet for two to three hours, a couple times a month on outings of their choice. The leading one-to-one mentoring program for youth in Massachusetts provides youth with support to help them reach their full potential.

“For 24 years, our Golf For Kids Tournament has combined our supporters love of golf and philanthropy to support the BBBS mission”, says Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands Regional Director JR Mell. “As we celebrate 50 years of service to our community, this tournament, led by hundreds of committee members past and present, has been a mainstay to ensuring thousands of kids find an additional, positive adult in their corner.”
