Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center Announces Official Launch of the 1983 Giving Society

Barnstable, MA — As we mentioned this morning at the Veterans Town Hall, the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center (CIVOC) is proud to announce the official launch of the 1983 Giving Society, honoring the foundational year of CIVOC and celebrating the enduring spirit of service that started in 1983. This new Society is dedicated to recognizing loyal donors whose generosity sustains vital programs for veterans across Cape Cod and the Islands.

Membership in the 1983 Giving Society begins at just $19.83 per month or $238 annually, inviting supporters to join a growing legacy that continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans. As members, individuals are more than donors; they become part of the backbone of support that empowers CIVOC to deliver essential services for those who have served our nation.

Exclusive member benefits include:

  • Special recognition in CIVOC’s annual report and on the Giving Page (with approval)
  • Invitation to the yearly Donor Society Appreciation Gathering
  • An exclusive 1983 Giving Society Lapel Pin
  • Priority updates from CIVOC Leadership
  • And more opportunities for meaningful engagement

Gifts to the 1983 Giving Society have a direct impact on veterans, helping fund crucial initiatives such as food distribution, stable housing, case management, and transportation for life-sustaining medical appointments.

“Our donors are the reason we have been able to carry out our mission for more than four decades,” said Jim Seymour, Executive Director of CIVOC. “With the launch of the 1983 Society, we honor those who step up and join us in making sure veterans receive the support they deserve.”

The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center invites community members and supporters to become founding members of the 1983 Giving Society and help continue a tradition of service that began in 1983.

CIVOC is a tax-deductible, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was founded in 1983 by a group of Vietnam Veterans who did not find the services and programs they needed to transition back to their communities anywhere in our region successfully.  Ever since then, we have been an indispensable veteran services provider across the region.  Building on the legacy that our founders established over 42 years ago, we offer multiple comprehensive support services that empower veterans to achieve independence with dignity and respect, including 13 monthly food pantries across Cape Cod and on Martha’s Vineyard, a new Food Distribution Center, transportation service for veterans, professional counseling, and transitional housing.
