Hyannis, MA – Cape Cod 5 recently welcomed local public-school teachers to their headquarters (HQ5) for a reception celebrating the 24th Annual Cape Cod 5 Educational Mini-Grants Awards. At the event, where teachers were celebrated for their innovation and dedication to their students, Cape Cod 5 acknowledged the breadth of this year’s program, with 213 grants totaling $102,328 to 220 teachers from 82 local schools across Cape Cod, the Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts. These grants, awarded through the Cape Cod 5 Foundation, will fund educational projects the teachers have developed, impacting over 30,000 students, based on teachers’ estimates. The winning projects cover a wide array of subject areas, including social emotional learning; community engagement; diversity, equity and inclusion; local history; environmentalism; and science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).

As part of the event, all educators who attended were eligible for an additional bonus mini-grant for their school. During the reception, Bert Talerman, President of Cape Cod 5 and Chair and President of the Cape Cod 5 Foundation, shared his gratitude for the ongoing dedication of the local educators.

“Cape Cod 5 is deeply appreciative of our local educators and the difference that each of you makes across the communities we serve,” said Talerman. “You all make a long-lasting impact on our youth and that means a lot to the future of our communities.”

Education & Enrichment is a focus area of Cape Cod 5’s community engagement efforts. Through the Educational Mini-Grants Program, Cape Cod 5 has awarded over 1,800 Mini-Grants totaling $781,053 since the program’s inception in 2000. Teachers use the grants to fund original educational programs that would not otherwise be available to their students.

Applications are available in the fall. More information about this year’s Mini-Grants program can be found at www.capecodfive.com/MiniGrantsCelebration.
