HYANNIS, MA – June 4, 2025: The Cape’s original craft beer has signed a purchase agreement with Triton Beverage
Group, a newly formed entity comprised of Hog Island Beer Company, Mayflower Brewing Company, and now Cape Cod
Beer. This latest acquisition unites three of Massachusetts’ most cherished coastal breweries under one independent,
Cape Cod-rooted umbrella and establishes Triton Beverage Group as the largest locally owned brewing company on Cape
Cod and the South Shore.
“Beth and I are incredibly proud of what our Brew Crew has helped us create here at Cape Cod Beer,” said Todd Marcus,
co-founder of Cape Cod Beer. “It’s incredibly important that this next chapter honors the hard work put into making this
brand a success, and that the future includes a strong commitment to our community, which has been at the heart of
our foundation over the last 21 years. Mike and the Triton team share our values and vision — we’re thrilled to see the
brewery continue to grow in good hands.” When asked about the next chapter, co-founder Beth Marcus reflects, “We
often refer to Cape Cod Beer as our third child. At 21, it’s surely ‘taken a village…’ We’re so grateful to so many people
who have helped us along the way – customers, friends, family, local vendors – everyone who has ever enjoyed a Cape
Cod Beer has been a big part of our success. We owe it to our hard-working Brew Crew here, as well as all of those
mentioned previously, to find someone who would care for both the brand and the community that supports it. Todd
and I both feel strongly that Mike and the folks from Triton are exactly the right fit.”
Mike McNamara, founder of Hog Island Beer Company and CEO of Triton Beverage Group, shared his enthusiasm for the
acquisition: “Todd and Beth are Cape Cod legends in the beer world. Cape Cod Beer is a cornerstone of the community
and a trailblazer in Massachusetts brewing. We’re honored to build on their incredible legacy.”
Long-time fans of Cape Cod Beer can rest assured that their beloved brewery and brands will continue to operate
independently at their Hyannis brewery, preserving their brand identity and hosting their popular events. “This is not
about changing Cape Cod Beer — it’s about investing in what’s already great and helping it reach new heights,”
McNamara added. “Together, we’ll keep making great beer and deepen our roots in the communities we love.” Triton
Beverage Group plans to bring added resources, strategic support, and new collaborative opportunities between the
three breweries.
As part of this acquisition, Cape Cod Beer has signed a distribution agreement with The Sheehan Family Companies to
distribute their products across all of Massachusetts. This is great news for Cape Cod Beer fans who have been clamoring
for their brews in places like Western Mass and the North Shore.
So, what happens next? While Triton Beverage awaits its federal, state, and local licenses to be transferred, Cape Cod
Beer’s taproom operations will continue as usual, and its wholesale operation will convert from self-distribution to
distribution with L. Knife & Sons, a member of the Sheehan Family Companies. The Hyannis brewery location will remain
open throughout this transition. All private and public brewery events and beer releases will happen as scheduled, and
event inquiries and rentals are being accepted into 2026. Todd & Beth Marcus will continue to own and operate Cape
Cod Beer throughout the rest of the summer season, with an expected final transition sometime after Labor Day.
