DENNIS, MA—Foran Realty Co. has earned accreditation for its Home Watch services from the National Home Watch Association for the 11th year. The NHWA was formed in 2009 in order to establish and maintain the highest industry standards for Home Watch and absentee homeowner services throughout the United States and Canada (www.nationalhomewatchassociation.org). Home Watch is a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues, which means that it is a service that “keeps an eye on things” at your vacation or primary home while you are not in residence. All principals of NHWA Accredited Member companies are background-checked, insured, and bonded.
President and Founder Patrick J. Foran is a Worcester native who grew up in Dennis. He currently lives with his wife and children in Cummaquid. Patrick followed in the family tradition and attended Assumption College. He has a B.A. in Political Science and is also a Licensed Real Estate Broker and Insurance Broker.
Having been in the real estate sales and vacation rental business for over 18 years, Patrick saw a lack of dependable people to keep an eye on the properties of absentee owners. One winter, an alarm went off at his parents’ home, alerting him to a flood. The emergency responders told him this happens often and that homeowners don’t discover these events until months later. Between this and the things he’s seen as a real estate broker, Patrick decided to offer Home Watch services.
The NHWA is proud to have members who give back to their communities, not only in philanthropic ways but also by actually getting involved and making a difference. Patrick has served in numerous local nonprofit organizations and held the position of Chairman of the Town of Yarmouth Finance Committee. He is a former Harwich Dennis Rotary Club president and a Paul Harris Fellow, an honor that acknowledges his giving. With his family, he organized and served as co-chair of the Dana-Farber Great White Gala Against Cancer, held at the Chatham Bars in 2016. The event raised over $200,000, with all proceeds going to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its Multiple Myeloma research.
