Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth Earth Day and ReStore Expansion Celebration to Take Place April 19

CARVER, PLYMOUTH, MA ISSUED APRIL 15, 2025 …Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth (HFHGP), located at 160 N. Main Street in Carver, is holding an Earth Day and ReStore Expansion Celebration on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new ReStore expansion is well-aligned with Earth Day, as the store provides an opportunity to reuse and repurpose gently used furniture and appliances instead of disposing of them in a landfill.  The ReStore began its expansion project in February, taking over a previously vacant but neighboring storefront.  The new 1,800-square-foot space allows the showroom to feature an expanded selection of kitchen cabinets, a newer and popular offering of the HFHGP Restore.  Additionally, the added space will enhance the overall layout of even more furniture and appliances.

Activities planned throughout the celebration include a Furniture Restoration Demonstration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an Upcycling Craft Demonstration from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.  Additionally, the store is celebrating with a baseline sale of 20% off everything, and up to 40% off select items.  Free energy efficient light bulbs will also be given away with every purchase.

“It’s fitting that we celebrate this grand opening of our expanded ReStore space near Earth Day, because every donation and purchase at the ReStore helps keep usable items out of landfills, making a difference for both the environment and our community,” said Amy Belmore, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth.  “And more ReStore space means more opportunity to have greater impact through our mission of helping local families achieve stability through affordable home ownership.”

The ReStore is currently accepting donations of gently used furniture and appliances – including refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and dishwashers – as well as gently used kitchen cabinets.  The ReStore’s skilled and experienced crew can take old cabinets off the walls and remove them at no cost.

“We encourage people to bring unwanted, good quality saleable goods on the 19th,” added Belmore.  “Our truck and volunteers will be ready and waiting in the parking lot to give them a second life!”

The Habitat ReStore sells gently used and donated furniture, appliances, cabinets, lighting, and other home goods at deeply discounted prices. All proceeds from the ReStore’s sales benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth’s mission of building strength, stability and self-reliance for families through affordable housing.  It is open to the public for shopping and welcomes donations.  For more information, please email info@hfhplymouth.org or call 508-866-4188.
